Belterra Trail Improvement
In January 2015, under the direction of troop leaders, Amy Kastner and Nicole McGilvray, Girl Scout Troop #211 set out to map, name, and mark the trails within Belterra. The girls addressed the Hays WCID Boards and outlined the details of their group’s Bronze Project. The Boards were impressed with the preparation and dedication that the troop had put into the project, and they agreed to partner in the venture. The 5th grade girls learned to use a surveyor's wheel to measure the trails, worked with the Water Board, and Bill Bailey Signs to present and fine-tune their project. The Girl Scouts designed and ordered the materials with oversight and capital support from the Hays WCID Boards.
Due to substantial delays because of flooding the project was completed in December 2015.
The members of Girl Scout Troop#211 hope the trails are easier to navigate and will be used even more now!
